Can anybody give me a lead on getting a pair of front wings for my series 4 rapier. I'm new to all this and need to know where (if any) I can get new patent wings or some good 2nd hand.

Fibreglass wings are fine for a non show car. Normally used Audax modles were a rust trap there so it is one less worry. After 20 years and 44k miles my pair had started to craze so my conclusion is they should be undersealed to stop stones damaging them.

Result!

Was it David Angel by any chance?

Thanks for the lead. I had a call from the chap that sold me the first wing and he had decided to let me have the other one as well for the same price. So 2 original front wings in good condition for £300. Not bad.

Well I just managed to get a good S4 near side front wing from a chap in Dorset for £150. Just a drivers side to find and I can start the work.

haha, all that power Glenn; you could have some real fun editing posts

TBH I didn't bother complaining as my original wings were off and wanted to get on with the job, that said it may well be worth dropping some feedback to them.

XJ8, Beach Buggy, ZX9r, ZX6r, BSA Bantam D7 x2 , Gorilla Monkey Bike, Skyteam Monkey Bike , Honda 400/4.....and now I want a H120!

Sorry about that Paul, had intended to "reply with quote" and ended up altering your reply! . Still it is odd in the change in quality from Honeybourne. Did you complain?! G.

I recently used Honeybourne for my fastback wings.

First impressions were good although when it came to fitting I can only imagine they were from an old an misshapen mold. They were an absolute pig to fit and needed grinding, cutting and reshaping to get anything near an acceptable finish.

Mmmmm, their mold must have got tired, because some early wings from them were an excellent fit (£17 each then). Actually I'm surprised they are still producing them! G.

Thanks John. I have just looked at the Honeybourne website http://www.honeybournemouldings.co.uk/frontwings.htm but series Rapiers not listed. I gave them a call and they are listed as Minx series 1-6 and cost £68 + Del. + VAT. (so about £100 all in). Has anyone used these? What are they like? Or has someone got some secondhand ones for sale?

Hi Martin,
Alpine West Midlands sell 'pattern'steel wings at one heck of a price.I have had various repair panels from them for my SIV and have found the actual delivery times bear no resemblance to those stated in the catalogue (x5 or 6),also they do need quite a bit of fettling to fit.I think Honeybourne Mouldings do fibre glass wings, maybe other readers have experience of them.
Second hand ones are like hens teeth.
Best of luck,regards
John
