Posted - 08 Apr 2012 : 22:02:22 Took the Alpine out today for the first time in nearly 6 months to a classic car show at Weston Super Mud and when i got home i noticed a puddle of water under the car on the garage floor plus no visible coolant in the Rad. as i could see no obvious place for the leak i feared the worst & thought it may have been a core plug let go at the back of the engine. Luckily or unluckily when i looked more closely i found the carpet on the drivers side was soaking wet. After contorting myself & looking up under the dashboard it turned out the small right angled hose that goes from the heater valve to the matrix was driping onto the carpet. I bought a new set of hoses from Speedy Spares last year but never got round to fitting them. Looking at some of the other hoses i think next weekends job will be hose replacement plus a flush & refill with new antifreeze.

Posted - 12 Apr 2012 : 18:17:56 lucky that the steering wheel here is on the other side of the car, so I don't get al the hot water over my foot if it would go.. But I agree it smells and it doesn't dry!

Posted - 12 Apr 2012 : 17:59:22 Lucky it went while in the garage - I had one of those split while driving the car. It sprayed hot water all over my left foot, and the anti-freeze makes the pedals really slippery. It didn't smell too good either

Posted - 09 Apr 2012 : 20:23:39 I have done it in situ, but I was younger and thinner last time I had to do it. Rapierdave - you should be getting your bits from the club |

Posted - 09 Apr 2012 : 09:39:29 As you say Dave, not the easiest of places to get at. Do you think you will be able to change the hose with the heater in situ?
