Good morning
Yesterday, I realised that the front right headlight does not light up. So I went into a Halfords at Sutton by Mansfiled (Notts) to get a replacement bulb. However, there was a blank, because either the chaps did not know how to open the case with the bulbs or it is really a sealed unit. Reading the manual, I think it is a unit.
Searching on Ebay has not wielded any result.
If anybody knows a supplier, I would be happy to receive a call @ 07766663352.
We do therefore make way north just during daytime and try to find accommodation latest 4 o'clock. Which should bring us anyway home, perhaps a day later...

Hi Arran,
Great trip to Devon and back and glad car got you back OK: thanks for keeping us informed of your progress, it made for an interesting thread. Sorry missed you in Newton Abbot on the 15th.
Plenty of firms do Halogen 5 3/4" units dip (w/o sidelight) and main beam. I got mine from Vehicle Wiring Products of Derby many years ago, for about £15 each.
You could go for s/hand sealed beam units: club has a lot of these, but they often don't last too long when they've been hanging around for years and then are used again.
Go for the halogen and I'd fit relays too to help eliminate the voltage drop you'll get with the old wiring.

You are correct - sealed beam are not halogen.
The entire lamp is one big bulb - when they die you replace the whole thing.

I spoke to my engineer here on the Island and he requests to replace all four units to halogen.
I would be happy to do that. Any Idea or offers for the parts?
I did found in the parts list here the following:
75063966 Headlight - Outer RHD (Sealed Beam)
5059574 Headlight - Inner RHD (Sealed Beam)
two of each would be possible.
I presume, this would not be halogen lamps? And therefore just be second choice?

Hello
I have now realised,that we cope quite well driving mostly by day and just a few last miles until about 5 o'clock, having by then acommodation and parking. We were yesterday in Whitby and today we sleep in Sunderland. I have nothing adverse to remark with the car; it purrs like a happy cat.
Tomorrow we will probably not get much further towards Scotland,as my wife wants to go back a few miles to collect seaglass at Seaham (she makes and sells jewellery).
I will therefore wait until Monday/Tuesday to follow up, when I can do that from home.

The link in Stella's post brings up 5.75" sealed beam units. The first one on the list (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5-inch-and-3-4-Sealed-Beam-75w-main-beam-headlight-/181258648164) is the same as I have fitted to my H120.
I have a few of these spare if you get stuck, not the Halogen lights, sorry if I caused any confusion.
The Halogen conversion is worthwhile and as Pete says bulbs are easily replaced.

Upgrade to halogen lights is worthwhile, I plan to do this to my fastback, using Triumph Stag or similar items.
Bulbs are H4 (472) or some are H1 and are easily replaceable.
If you do this upgrade, you must fit relays to take the load off of the light switch.
Most 5 3/4 head lights will fit, just type this into ebay,s search. |

It is the inner lamp.
Are the product in the link from Stella anything worth? If so, I would not mind to buy two sets, so I have the ppoosbility to exchange all 4 lamps into the additional offer of the Halogen bulbs.
Do I understand correctly, that bulbs for this lamps will then be easy to replace when broken?
Alternatively, I am abslutely happy to come back to your offer.

Is it the outer or inner lamp? There is an option to upgrade to halogen which is worth doing. I may have some spares in the shed and Glen can probably help too.
