Hi, the chap from belgium... Thomas

That makes it clear to me how the rear window was "sealed"... We were wondering....
I'm feeling sorry for it, but I think I'm going to make it the later type window surrounds as they are far easier to fit, stay in better and the windscreen rubbers are better available...
I'd surely order at least two one for mine, and one for my grand dad's as a spare.

I like a car that looks normal but really knocks your socks off!!

Here I am after 1922's prompting. Been off air for far too long, but initially due to being very busy & in more recent times due to recovering from pneumonia: still not A1 & going to take a few more weeks yet.
Right; onto screen rubbers. Yes, we have a few front's - same as Speedies, they are modified Mk2 Cortina's - which as are don't fit as a tried one from East Kent Vintage - nowhere near the right shape. However the ones we have and those of Speedies are a perfect fit. I know there has been a demand in the past for rear backlight seals, but finding someone who will do them without mitring and gluing the corners has been difficult, however I may have found someone - esp as I have a couple of spare reasonable s/hand rubbers as a pattern. I've been reluctant before to part with the only one I had. So, now I'm feeling better & seeing the demand is still there I will follow up. Incidentally; if you've got an original early fastback it won't have a rear window rubber as such; they were heat sealed and supported on little blocks. Could be the type the chap in Belgium has. As for inserts: the front rubbers are designed to take the later beading, but if you've a good screen man the stainless steel trim can be made to fit - managed it on mine. I'd try and get one re-made that would take both. Thanks for your interest & I'll keep you appraised. I will try and have a trawl through all the recent posts over the next few days & see if there is anything I can follow up on, now that I'm up and about: unfortunately work on the car is out of the question. Cheers all. G.

There are just two types of rear seal, the early type with the wide stainless trim and the late type with the narrow plastic trim. So might be enough people after them to make a production run economical, most of us must need one.

I'll email Glen Mason and ask him if the club has any plans to get some made.

Question do you perhaps have a center console that is covered with Stainless steel (or aluminum) plates...
Cause I really like the look of it...

I got my headlight backing panels from ALPINE WEST-MIDLANDS
http://www.sunbeam-alpine.co.uk/
I think they look good, perhaps a little expensive.

I have a spare one for my own car (the one that's in it is cracked) and I also have one that is technically mine.... (paid for) but it's in Derby. That's why I asked where you were.

Building the 'Mark II' fastback Rapier ('Arrocuda').
