I have a series 4 Rapier, the headlight switch has no "knob" to operate it! Just the hexagon shaft sticking out of the dashboard. Would anyone have one spare, or direct me to replacement knob?

I think we have a pull switch at the stores. It will need to be a double pull I guess? 1st for side and then again for heads. I'll try and have a look on Sat when I go there. Cheers. G.

Thanks Glen, but it's actually a "twist switch" You twist the lever to get side and headlights. It fits onto a hexagonal shaft and presumably has a screw to secure it.

The original switch is a toggle switch!

I'm learning all the time! The switch that I described is in the dashboard of this car. However being as nothing worked as somebody had obviously been confused by the wiring and swapped everything around, I shouldn't be surprised that it's a wrong switch.

I've now discovered that the gent who sold me this car was at least as confused as me! The switch that was on the headlights is supposed to operate the wipers. So after correcting the mistake, I'm now stuck for an operating knob for this switch. The shaft is hexagonal, so the knob needs to have a hexagonal hole to fix onto. Can anyone help?

So you need the 2-pull position lighting switch. I have a non-standard one at stores, but not going there for a while. I'm sure Mike the club Series Spares man will be able to sort you out quicker. There's a link to his e-mail on web site. Cheers. G.

Thank you Glen

I'd searched on Ebay with every combination of words I could think of!
This is exactly it. When/if I get this car sorted I'd better write a blow by blow account of the work and expense involved in making it drive and be roadworthy. I haven't even started on the brakes and suspension yet. At least it might bring a superior smile to Rapier owners, if not a little sympathy.

Apparently somebody needed it more than me! Outbid even after I went to quite a high bid!

Mike is the spares officer of SROC for series cars. He helped me out many times with parts that seem to be nearly obsolete.

Peter
