Oops. I think I've added to the confusion. I should not have chopped off the 2nd page. Here it is in full, showing both 936 & 963. I think the latter is indeed correct. For the channel; 353 is definitely correct. Sorry again for confusion: 963 looks to be the bigger version of 936. Regards. G.

Oeps....I have checked the website of Baines and I am really amazed! Two days ago I found on their website IRS 0353EP and today I can't find this rubber. Secondly: I searched in the section "Hollow Pipes" and....I found IRS 0963N, the number John mentioned, but I can't find IRS 0936N the rubbers which is showed in the cataloque of Glen. Both numbers look much alike and the same thing is with the drawnings of this rubbers, although I see a slight difference. So now I really don't know what to do! One thing maybe helps and that is if John can provide me with the right numbers on the invoice of Baines and perhaps if John has someting written down in the cataloque. If you both guys or somebody else has some idea I will much appreciate this.
Best regards,
Peter |

Hi Glen,
Thank you very much for your help and now I see the slight little mistake John has made with the number of the second rubber. It must be IRS 0936N instead of IRS 0963N. The "3" and the "6" were switched! So now I am able to order this rubbers with Baines. Thanks again!
Best regards,
Peter |

Found them both in the catalogue (7th edition): both references say they are 'normally stocked'. I cut the header off of the second one, but it comes under 'Hollow Piping'.

Hi Peter, It's some time since I bought and fitted the rubbers I mentioned in my post and am not sure if I still have the catalogue or order details,I'll have a look and get back to you when I've had a rummage through my garage. Regards John |

Hi John,
I tried to find the rubbers you mentioned on the website of Baines. I found the second one which is IRS 0963N but on the first one IRS 0353EP I had no succes. Are you sure that you mentioned the right number of the rubber and that you not made a slight little mistake? The rubbers on my series 4 a are completely gone and I want to investigate your route. I appreciate it if you could help me on this one. Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Peter |

Thanks, John, sounds like that worked out ok for you. I decided to repair mine. I'm going to keep most of the rubber but cut off the part that goes over the pinchweld (as it is ripped) and replace it with some rubber U channel I got from Scott's in Australia. With the door closed I figure no one will be the wiser. I'll let you know how it works out.

That's good tip: I've used Baines and they are a very professional outfit and quality of the parts I've had has been excellent. Club did have some of these seals specially made, but cost was much more than you paid I think! Cheers. G. |

Hi Alan, I've now fitted the rubbers I obtained from C O H Baines. 1m each of IRS 0353EP and IRS 0963N cost less than £20 incl p.p.etc. I fitted them as follows. First the outer seal which pushes over the body seam was fixed with contact adhesive,I mitred the ends to fit the door and gutter. Next I fitted the larger inner seal over the first with the flange facing into the car and the tube tight up against the outer seal, again fixed with contact adhesive to the rubber and A post. I have 'air tested' the seals using my air line and blow gun at a modest pressure and did not find any leaks. My car is not yet on the road and so I cannot 'water test' the seals but am confident they shall be OK. Whilst it is not truly like the origionals in shape I am satisfied with the job which looks fine,to me anyway.

Thanks for your replies John and Thomas. I have tried to find a rubber with a similar profile online but have so far been unsuccessful. I look forward to hearing if yours will work, John.

Hi Alan, I've also been trying to locate these for some time and drawn a blank. They seem to be very specific to Series cars, with the metal insert embedded in the rubber.I have concluded the only way is to make them up using standard compoments.I have recently obtained some from C O H Baines (coh-baines.co.uk)which I have yet to fit them but shall let you know how I get on. Regards John. |

Have you tried looking them up by the way they are formed? I found several for my fastback. If you sketch the rubber and then search on different sites you might find something useable and buyable by the meter..
Good luck Thomas

Hi. I am looking for two A Pillar rubbers (the rubber seals that go up the side of the windscreen frame on each side, the vent windows close on them) for my 1962 Sunbeam Rapier Series IIIA Convertible. I was wondering if anyone knows of a source for these or if anyone has a part number of a suitable replacement. I have checked with Alpine West and Speedy Spares plus several other automotive rubber specialists in the UK and several in Australia as well with no luck. Thanks, Alan 1962 Sunbeam Rapier Series IIIA Convertible
