I may have the glovebox catch and drop an e-mail to Dave Boulton (aka Rapierdave) who may have some wheels - see the link below (his is the blue fastback).
Yes the overdrive shaft is a weak spot - I've got one in the shed with a twist in the middle of the input splines. This was the result of a full throttle launch on a pub car park many years ago
1922 i will be using the car for classic rallies which include "special tests" i will be fitting a hydraulic handbrake and limited slip dff, i have been advised that the overdrive unit splines are quite weak when used in this manner and are liable to twist and as i have a spare box i might as well change it
no worries about the speedo as i will be using an electronic trip meter with speed readout hunter gls thanks for the tip on the screen will look into that
arrocuda i thought about cosmics or dunlop d1 wheels the car is pinewood green so would look good on d1's
its going to get a H120 stripe down it either green or silver not decided yet ! thanks for the replies so far !
My GLS does not have overdrive and I was thinking about retro fitting it. Is it worth doing?
As regards windscreens you can order one from Pilkington is any colour you want. I have ordered a couple of Audi ones, they cost in the region of £300 inc VAT and delivery. The details are in the current "Cut And Thrust".

Yes you can swap the o/d box and std - they are the same length. The propshafts are the same length - I'm using a 1500 Hunter prop on my Rapier.
Internally there are just two differences: The mainshaft for the std box is longer and has splines for the prop. The mainshaft for the o/d is short and connects to the o/d.
The o/d box has an adaptor and overdrive on the back The std box has an aluminium case the same length as the overdrive and adapter on the back (I've got one at home I use as a door stop in the shed!).
The speedo might be out afterwards though. Depends on the speedo drive gears on the gearbox - they are several types depending on back axle ratio etc.
I'm a bit puzzled why you want to remove the overdrive box and fit non-overdrive box - unless it's a temporary measure while the overdrive is overhauled?
