Hi All

I am looking to replace the old brake lines with a set of Goodridge braided hoses etc..(well, Clive will actually do the work)

Can someone tell me if the Rapier uses the same as the Alpine and Tiger..???

Cos Goodridge tell us they no longer make them for the Rapier...

BUT they do still make them for the Alpine and Tiger...

thanks in anticipation of a swift reply...

Hi Stella,
My thought would be that they are different because I seem to recall that for some reason Alpines & therefore possibly Tiger's (although I would have thought they had uprated brakes - maybe not?) used Girling brakes, whereas Rapier's used AP Lockheed. Sorry that's the extent of my knowledge. Nothing stopping you replacing all the pipework though: personally I'm not a copper pipe fan and used the standard set up on mine, but covered all pipework (not hoses) in old engine oil. However, probably not the way to go if you want a nice clean underside . More detailed responses will no doubt follow.

Hi Stella,

bigt80 is right, the Alpine and the Tiger use Girling brakes where the Rapier uses Lockeed brakes. The Alpine and the Tiger use exactly the same brake system, so the Tiger brakes are not uprated in comparison to the Alpine.
I agree with bigt80 where he advises not to use copper, I don't agree with him in using standard linings. I should go for Cunifer!
Regards,
Peter

What we are looking for are the flexi pipes not the solid lines. Goodridge stopped selling them last year and have disposed of the tech spec to re-make a set for me.

Hi Stella,

I recently replaced a few brake pipes on my Series V with kunifer pipes from a seller on ebay who makes them to the size you require, they have worked well for me. However if you are looking for flexi pipes I did get a new clutch pipe made for me at my local Pirtek out of stainless steel braided hose. It was quite expensive at around £40 but I needed a quick solution at the time and I would imagine that brake hose would be cheaper as the pipe has a smaller diameter than that of the clutch. I think that goodridge would be able to provide a similar custom build service as pirtek, probably at a similar price but I haven't seen any flexi brake line kits available for a series v.
