Are all sump pans interchangeable? e.g changing a steel sump for an alloy one?

Yes, the 2 small gaskets are different (rubber/cork).

The gaskets themselves are slightly different. but you can get away with putting a set meant for an ali sump on a steel one and vice versa. The holes may not line up exactly in some cases. G.
