Hi, can anyone help please, I have a series 4 rapier that someone has bypassed the light switch and fitted a separate switch. now i have repaired the original switch, but there are a eight or nine wires going to it. my manual has three different circuit diagrams, none of them have more than four. I have worked out the side and head, but have no idea where the others go, and what they do,any ideas please
Thanks

problem sorted, not knowing much about rapiers i was going on what the previous owner had done, he had labelled the wiper switch
as lights, my problem is now that he had joined the lighting wires which are located behind the wiper switch and fitted a switch by the steering column. now I only have four holes in the dash for switches
first one is panel lights second is choke, third is wiper, last is ignition, is this correct, so my question now is where does the light switch go.
the previous owner just had not got a clue. he has removed the amp meter, and fitted a volt meter. joining all the amp wires together tapeing them up
then fitted the wires off the temp gauge on to it. none of the clocks lighting worked he had cut the earth to them, wiring loom is good but everything is fitted wrong
so my question now is where does the light switch go.
could someone please post a picture of a correctly fitted dash. we really do not know what is what with this car,

Hi,
According to the parts book and the actual layout in my SVI the switches etc are positioned as follows from left to right- panel light switch, choke, light switch, ignition switch and wiper switch. On an origional dash the text for each is printed beneath the laquered finish and cannot readily be changed.I cannot understand how your dash can be lacking the relevant hole. However,it is quite simple to add a hole which I did for a warning light for my retro fit overdrive.
I think I can shed some light on the ammeter issue.Has the car been converted to neg earth with an alternator?if so it is recommended that the ammeter is by passed (ie wires joined together)as the origional equipment ammeter cannot cope with the alternator output and will malfunction,(if at all),a voltmeter is the alternative.I did this conversion on my SIV with no problems.
As to the temp.gauge wiring I can't even guess what that's about.
Hope this helps.
John

Hi, thanks for that. there is a dashboard on ebay the same with four holes. cant understand it. the wires for the light switch go right behind the wiper switch and have not been cut, so it has to go around there. the only thing I can think of he has changed the dash at sometime. I will have to drill a new hole.
