Hi Members The cork seals i got in the sump kit are only a thin strip and when fitting one is not sure it still in place. There must be some other way to seal the sump to the bearings, what do other members use.???

Apparently the tin sumps are ok but the alloy ones leak (i'm talking fastback here, unsure of series but must be similar)

It's a paper gasket around the sides and a cork one at either end, i've seen some rubber ones too but i always "assist" the gasket with some copper based silicone sealer (takes the heat better)

My alloy sump no longer leaks, now for the oil trow issue......

The end gaskets vary between rubber and cork depending on whether the sump is alloy or steel. No harm in using something extra to ensure a good seal, as Dave has suggested.
