I'm searching for a supply of original or very similar rubber parts for my Series V. Firstly a gearstick shroud/boot. also the little bumpstops
for the front edge of the bonnet, and hopefully the six "packers" that are fixed into slots on the wings to steady the bonnet when closed. Alternatively any other make that you know will fit.
Thanks for reading this

Hi Jim,

The gearstick shroud/boot is called grommet cap in the parts list and has Rootes parts number 1216103 which is exactly the same number as the grommet cap for Sunbeam Alpine series 4 and 5. So if you ask some of the wellknown suppliers like Sunbeam Spares Company or Alpine Westmidlands they probably can help you on this one.
The 6 buffers which are fixed to the wings have Rootes parts number 2216538 and are the same for the Rapier Series 3, 4 and 5.
The buffers in fromt have Rootes Parts number 9119535 and are particular for the Rapier series 4 and 5.
It should not amaze me when this buffers are the same as for the Hillman Mimx and probably the Hillman Super Minx.
If I were you I should ask Mike Langley who has helped me out more than once when I needed parts for my Rapier.
Best regards,
Peter

Hi Jim,
I can now confirm that both the buffers on the wings and the buffers in the fromt under the bonnet are the same for the Rapier and the Hillman Minx series 5 and 6. Perhaps the buffers for the Minx series 3 will fit as well, but I don't have a parts list for this type of Minx to confirm this.
Also the grommet cap for the gearstick from the Minx series 5 and 6 will fit the Rapier.
This all is not amazing when you know that both the Minx and the Rapier are built on the same platform. The Minx is the humble derivate from the Rapier. Even the bonnets from both the Minx and the Rapier are exactly the same.
So you can try used ones for a Minx or try to buy them mew. Not all suppiers are aware of the fact that a lot of parts for Hillmans will fit Sunbeams. Rootes was a champion in the so called badge engineering!
Regards,
Peter

Oh how right you are Peter, but then I guess there was a lot of that in the 50's/60's. Mind you they did some odd things too: I thought for years a Hunter front screen was same as Rapier Fastback, until I came to fit one! As you probably know; about the only common body part with the Hunter is the rear valance! BTW: Some useful advice there; as ever! Cheers. G.

Hi Glen,
Although I drove a Rapier fastback as my daily driver from 1972-1975, my only experience with the Arrow range is overhauling the engine from this Rapier and the occassionally maintanance of a Hunter from a customer of the Rootes dealership where I worked in my yonger days. So I don't know how far the badge engineering went in the Hunter range apart from the running gear of course.

Regards,

Peter
