Hi Guys
Thanks for the extra info. Yes, it is KRMnnnL. I've had the wheels balanced. Makes a big difference. But the bodywork does look to be beyond me. I'm trying to work out whether its better to sell it straight on now or do some of the mechanical bits first. My interest is in the driving, not the renovation so its going to cost me one way or other. Any offers? Jon |

Hi Jon, Is it KRMnnnL If so, was laid up for a fair few months when in Stockport. Always worth a shout on here before buying - too late now I know - as a club we know a lot of cars that have been through over the years. Think a chap in Yorks recommissioned it, but when I saw it - in Stockport, it did need a fair bit of work to make it a real goodun. Bodies/Interiors so important - mechanicals less so as most stuff still available. Hope it's not beyond doing? Cheers. G. |

Looks pretty decent for the money you paid for it. Ref the Holbay rocker box cover - these will fit on any of the 1500 or 1725 engines and doesn't mean it's a Holbay. To tell if it's a genuine Holbay engine (or head) look ofr anumber stamp on the cylinder head near the front - Holbay have this but ordinary Rootes ones don't. Also have a look at the push rods - tubular means could mean Holbay, steel ones mean probably standard. If you get the head off look at the pistons too - flat head for Holbay, not so for standard. Cam shaft should be different too but I can't remember exactly how. What about eh exhaust manifold - tubular four branch or cast iron lump? |

Looks ok. Worth a look at.
Oddly, the owner thinks that all Rapiers have a Holbay heads.
The factory only fitted those Rapier H120 and Hunter GLS.
It's easy to check, all Holbay heads have a serial number stamped on the top face of the head near the number 1 inlet port. |
