Does anyone know how to remove the hub flange from the tapered half shaft. We have tried in a press, with heat to the point of almost bending the flange without success! Any ideas would be appreciated.
Many thanks

Ah, just seen that you have had difficulties with this bit. Did you get it sorted? Otherwise I will ask my mechanic friend who is more au fait with these things. I know you need a 'puller' to get the shafts out of the diff, but not sure off of the actual hub |

If you remember Glen, I supplied a shaft puller at the 2013 AGM (Toddington) for club membership use. I think Mike Langley or Ron took it away. Damn heavy! Derek |

Thank you, we have now managed to make a puller thanks to Hugh, and have successful removed the flange after leaving overnight! Just need a spare engine now with a alloy head? Does anyone know where we can buy one?

Yes, I do remember Derek; we had a bit of fun trying to guess what it was used for to start with. Seems like this member sorted on that bit now. Cheers. G

Pleased you've sorted the hub. What sort of engine are you looking for: one of same type as fitted as standard to do up; or an upgraded one already built?

Some photos of this puller (ideally in use) would be mighty handy for future reference. |
