When doing some minor clean up one the fastback we found some very serious rust on the rear shock mounts..
There's not much left of it, so are there any repair panels available? Or do I need to make these myself. Any suggestions?

Hi Thomas, I'm assuming you mean top strut mounts as I had to repair on mine (see thread below)
http://www.sunbeamrapier.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=166
The repair panels that are occasionally on ebay are the large panels but then you also need an inner panel with 2 folded flanges and then a much thicker reinforced piece that provides the strength. You can see the different pieces in the pictures. I was lucky enough to have a 2nd pair of repair panels to make the inner panels and then salvage the thick piece off the car, it should be ok. I would think these panels would be quite tricky to make from scratch.

I 've seen your posts when looking for these.. Great job by the way!
Yes It would be very difficult.. But I've already cut one side out, I think repairing the inner wheel well wouldn't be that difficult, 2 pieces should do it, but than I can only re-use the smallest reinforcement part of the strut top.. as this is the only one not rotten.. I was hoping to either find a replacement (probably not going to happen), or try to repair what's left of the larger reinforcement panel..
I'l take a picture of it next week, both sides are similar to what yours used to be..

Pete (petespops) is also breaking a Singer Vogue. Might be worth taking a look when you go to collect the axle, if repair panels for the rear shock mounts aren't available.
I'm assuming that they are in ok condition but it's worth asking.

I had the same problem with the Hunter. The repair panel was much smaller than the area I needed to cover on one side. Luckily I found someone breaking a Mk3 Sceptre with good inner arches.

thanks,
Good thinking, maybe there is still something usable there... anyway, if I can't find anything, I will surely try to make repair panels from almost nothing. As you might expect, my skills making repair panels have grown making repair panels for my fastback restoration, because there weren't many useable repair panels for what I'm having to repair.. I'm kind of excited, looking at the challenge of making them...

Since there's probably not going to be an easy solution soon, I've started fabricating my own repair panel..
Here's what was left...
RH-side

LH-side (all ready cut out)

Here 's what I've got so far...

Sorry for this I had to do it quick that day so will take my time to upload a couple as soon as possible..
As you all know both sides were really bad.. So I cut out everything rotten, repaired the reinforcement piece and welded everything back in places, making sure the position of the shock wasn't altered too much..

Left hand side first

Right hand side was as bad..

Repairing

Priming

Finished... now cleaning and protecting

That looked like a total nightmare job. Well done for sticking with it.
Wasn't the car green - or was that just the exterior panels? |

Well done, probably a right nightmare due to lack of access.

She 's finally on the road for the last 2 weeks.. After repairing the front chassis outrigger, she had only 2 faults on her MOT... not too bad for a car that's not had an MOT for a long time!! Had to replace the exhaust and change the carbs to get the emissions within the required range... I will be reconditioning the carbs that were on it... the needles on these had so much wear on it it was running way to rich on idle...
Recent addition have been, finally wiring in the rear heated window and a brand new Dixie air horn!
Pictures to follow...
