Hi all and a happy new year, could anyone help, I bought some shiny new wheel nuts off flea bay for my fastback, they are supposed to be 7/16 unf thread but don't fit, I thought this was the correct thread size but now I don't know if it is or if I have just been sent the wrong nuts, there are no markings on the nuts, thanks, Andy.. |

Should be 7/16 unf thread.
Are you using standard wheels?

Make sure you get the correct nuts. E.g. Ford 7/16 nuts for Ford rostyles and Rootes 7/16 nuts for Sunbeam Rostyles. They both will fit on the car but not interchange as the wheel nuts seats are different, curved on Rootes and tapered on Ford,s. You can't put Ford wheels on using Rootes nuts and vise versa.

Not sure if you are talking Arrow Series, but on my Hunter I have chrome finish 60 degree conical tapered Rootes nuts (from original Chrysler UK packaging, part number 71243815), for use with Rostyle wheels (including Ford if they have the correct seat).
The normal unchromed nuts are called out in the parts list as 71108015, with spherical seating to suit the standard steel wheels. This is the Arrow situation anyway, in the 71- parts manual.
(Edit, checked 72 part manual, and now the standard nuts also become conical tapered- part 71247256. Spherical only continued for Iran after this change) |
