Hi guys, did you see there is a complete Holbay engine for sale on ebay. Wow, wish I was in that area .
Maybe the SROC should buy it and start building a club car !

A thousand quid for an engine that might need hundreds spent on it and might not even be a Holbay - that's a joke

My 1725cc engine is redone with new standard liners , new oil pump etc etc, and if I include the price of the good Holbay webers with manifold , the total comes to around R12,000, which I thought is expensive . So yes, I agree, this price is ridiculous.
A pity though, it could have made a Rootes fan very happy.

Hi Jon, Off topic, but is that 'Yellow Peril' yours? Looks like it used to live in the Banbury area if it's the one I think it is. Was a good car I believe. Hope it continues to run well if it is the one. You've quite a varied collection there! cheers, G.

Hi Jon, yes I know Nick - he's still a club member & does a lot of work on the spares front; he enjoyed it for a while and then sold it about 2-3 years ago. It went to Eire I think & is still about as far as I know. Cheers. Glen.

Im glad its still about youve made me feel happy nowlol.I rescued it from the crusher It was parked in a council garage block that was going to be knocked down in telford, it was in a very bad way needing lots and lots of welding, and if the chap didnt sell it to me it was going for scrap.

a holbay engine is essentially flat top pistons (£150 new hunter 1500cc pistons) balanced bottom end (£100?) Hot cam (£150 including delivery exchange) and then the inlet and exhaust manifolds which can be all sorts. The whole lot can be recon for under £1000 starting with an 1725 engine. So a used holbay engine depending on how many parts is worth around £250 max.
